Gurgaon, 7 August, 2014: SpiceJet today announced yet another industry
innovation, the all-new SpiceMAX, a product that offers customer a lot more comfort
and convenience for little more money. Starting August 15, SpiceJet customers opting
for SpiceMax seats will enjoy best in-class leg room, with at least 6 inches more
leg room compared to standard seats, a lot more personal space to work or relax,
and with priority check-in at dedicated SpiceMax counters at major airports.
SpiceJet has reconfigured most of its Boeing
737 fleet such that the first 5 rows now have this extra legroom, along with the
exit row seats that have more legroom. With this product, SpiceJet becomes the only
budget airline in India to actually offer greater legroom, personal space, and comfort
in seats that are marketed and sold as “premium” seats under various names. SpiceJet’s
Boeing 737 fleet will have 30 SpiceMAX seats (first five rows). The Bombardier Q400
fleet will remain with 4 SpiceMAX seats (the first row).
Announcing the new product, Sanjiv Kapoor, Chief Operating Officer, SpiceJet Ltd.
said, “We have repeatedly heard from many of our
customers,
including our corporate customers, that while they are not always willing to pay
the huge premium for Business Class, they would be happy to pay a little more for
greater comfort and convenience in economy class so that they have more personal
space, legroom, and greater freedom to work and relax during their frequent travels.
They have also said that they would like to speed up the airport check-in process
and avoid long queues. It is for these customers that we have designed and launched
the all-new SpiceMax, yet another industry-leading innovation in India from SpiceJet,
the airline that is rapidly emerging as India’s most innovative airline.” Kaneswaran
Avili, SpiceJet’s Chief Commercial Officer, added, “In addition to providing an
exciting new product for customers, SpiceMAX will also be an important source of
ancillary revenues for SpiceJet”.
For a limited time, the SpiceMax product can be purchased at a promotional offer
starting at Rs. 500 per seat over and above the ticket price. SpiceJet has already
modified two thirds of its Boeing aircraft to introduce this product, and will gradually
extend it to more aircraft. The product can be bought by simply selecting a SpiceMAX
seat on the seat map at the time of purchase on spicejet.com, after purchase by
using the “Manage My Booking” option at spicejet.com (this is applicable even for
bookings made through travel agents), during on-line check-in, or during airport
