GURUGRAM, August 14, 2020: SpiceJet, the country’s favourite airline and the largest air cargo operator, operated repatriation flights from Philippines and Kazakhstan today bringing back home 212 stranded Indian nationals.
While 139 Indians flew home from Manila another 73 returned from Almaty. In addition to the two repatriation flights, 170 passengers holding permanent residency of Philippines travelled from Delhi to Manila.
In addition to repatriating Indian nationals, 35 Philippines nationals also travelled on the Manila-Delhi SpiceJet flight. These included 12 children requiring an urgent liver transplant and travelling to Delhi for treatment.
These repatriation flights were operated in association with film actor Sonu Sood. SpiceJet had earlier operated a charter flight from Manila to Delhi on August 7, 2020 to bring back 180 Indians.
Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Commercial Officer, SpiceJet, said, “SpiceJet is proud to have helped repatriate around 92,000 stranded Indians and we shall leave no stone unturned and keep on with our efforts in the coming days and weeks. Today’s flight from Manila was even more special as we flew 12 children who required an urgent liver transplant. I wish them speedy recovery and pink of health to all the kids who have come to Delhi for their treatment.”
SpiceJet has operated 560 charter flights to help repatriate around 92,000 stranded Indian citizens from countries such as Canada, The Netherlands, Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Maldives and Sri Lanka.

The airline has operated over 5478 cargo flights and transported over 30057 tons of cargo – this is more than double of all domestic airlines combined together – carrying medicines and medical equipment and fruits and vegetables to all corners of India and the world since March 25, 2020.
