GURUGRAM, July 01, 2019:SpiceJet, the country’s favourite carrier, today launched daily non-stop flight services on the Guwahati-Dhaka-Guwahati route, under the International Air Connectivity Scheme (IACS). SpiceJet’s Guwahati-Dhaka flight is the first-ever to be operated under IACS. The flight, which earmarks a new milestone, also reiterates the airline’s commitment on enhancing connectivity in the North East region.
SpiceJet is the only airline to offer direct air connectivity between Guwahati and Dhaka. The airline hosted a flag-off ceremony at the airport which was graced by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Industry & Commerce, Parliamentary Affairs, Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Development, Assam, Shri Siddhartha Bhattacharya Hon’ble Minister of Education, Law & Justice, GDD, Assam, Shri Ravi Capoor, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Forest & Environment, Act East Policy Affairs and Public Enterprises Departments, Assam, Shri Pradeep Singh Kharola, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, Smt. Usha Padhee, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India and Debojo Maharshi, Chief Marketing Officer, SpiceJet.
The launch was initiated with the customary lamp lighting ceremony thereby marking the formal announcement of SpiceJet’s SG 78 Guwahati to Dhaka flight. In line with the aviation tradition to mark key milestones, the inaugural flight from Dhaka, was greeted with a grand water cannon salute at Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.

SpiceJet is India’s largest and most organized regional player operating a fleet of 76 Boeing 737 aircraft, 31 Bombardier Q400 planes and two B737 freighters.
With the launch of the new flight services between Guwahati and Dhaka, SpiceJet now operates two flights under IACS besides operating a total of 43 flights connecting 24 cities under UDAN. This is the highest number of flights being operated by any Indian airline under UDAN or the regional connectivity scheme.
SpiceJet’s UDAN network includes flights on the following sectors: Durgapur-Mumbai-Durgapur, Hyderabad–Kishangarh–Hyderabad, Belgavi–Hyderabad- Belgavi, Gwalior- Jammu-Gwalior, Hyderabad-Gwalior–Hyderabad, Ahmedabad-Udaipur-Ahmedabad, Kishangarh-Ahmedabad-Kishangarh, Kolkata-Pakyong-Kolkata, Jaipur-Amritsar-Jaipur, Delhi-Jharsuguda-Delhi, Hyderabad-Jharsuguda-Hyderabad, Kolkata-Jharsuguda-Kolkata, Bhopal-Udaipur-Bhopal, Delhi-Kishangarh-Delhi, Mumbai-Porbandar, Mumbai-Kandla-Mumbai, Hyderabad-Puducherry-Hyderabad, Jaipur-Jaisalmer-Jaipur, Delhi-Adampur-Delhi, Ahmedabad-Jaisalmer-Ahmedabad, Surat-Jaisalmer-Surat and Delhi-Kanpur-Delhi.
SpiceJet is deploying its Bombardier Q400 on the sector. Passengers travelling from Dhaka will now be able to easily travel to a host of other cities both on SpiceJet’s domestic as well as international network via multiple onward connections.
